Perennials, 10–13 cm tall, slender, caespitose; rhizome short. Stems erect, terete, grooved. Cataphylls 1–2, ±stramineous, 1–2.5 cm long; basal leaves 1–2, bitubular, filiform, depressed terete, 5–10 cm long, to c. 0.5 mm in diam.; sheaths 1–2.5 cm long. Cauline leaves ±absent; auricles oblong, ±truncate, c. 0.5 mm long, scarious to stramineous. Bracts lanceolate, 3–7 mm long, with lower bracts shorter than inflorescence, acicular, pale brown. Inflorescence usually reduced to a single flower; sometimes flowers 2, approximated or the lateral flower on erecto-patent peduncle to 2 cm long. Flowers 8–12 mm long, 3–5 mm wide; pedicels 0.5–0.8 mm long; floral bracts 1–2, ovate, scarious, to c. 3 mm long. Tepals subequal; inner tepals longer, linear lanceolate, acute-acuminate, 4.5–6.0 mm long, 0.7–0.8 mm wide, ivory white. Stamens 6, long exserted 6–7 (–12) mm long; anther linear elliptic, white, 2.5–3.2 (–3.5) mm long; filaments 4–4.5 mm long; style 1.5–2.5 mm long; stigmas 0.8–1.5 mm long. Capsule unilocular, narrowly ellipsoid-trigonous, mucronate, 4.0–5.5 mm long incl. mucro to 0.5 mm, 1.2–1.5 mm wide, golden-brown, shining, not exceeding perianth. Seeds brown, narrowly ovoid, c. 0.6 × 0.3 mm, or c. 1.0–1.5 mm long incl. two unequal appendages 0.2–0.5 mm long.
