SUMMARY
Plants with stems, basal sheaths and leaves strongly transversely rugose. Transverse section of stems and leaves with ridges in outline, having some epidermal cells (1–) 1.5–2 times as long as wide, alternating with other larger ones 3–5 times as long as wide.
