SUMMARY
Perennials, 6–20 cm tall, loosely caespitose; rhizome thin, short creeping, branched, 0.4–0.8 mm thick. Stem erect, terete, 0.5–0.8 mm thick, grass-green, proximally yellowish green. Cataphylls 1–2, ±green; leaves subterete with a deep adaxial groove, unitubular, with sub-basal and basal ones 1.5–5.0 cm long, 0.4–0.6 mm wide; leaf sheath 1–4 cm long, light-brown. Cauline leaves 1–2, 2–6 cm long, 0.3–0.5 mm wide, not exceeding stem; auricles short, obtuse, c. 0.3–1.0 mm long. Lower bract longer than or equalling inflorescence, 1–4 cm long, 1.5–2.0 mm wide, subterete to terete, grass-green; margins reddish brown; capitulum bracts scarious, lanceolate, 4–6 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide; sheath-like bract on pedicel membranous, lanceolate, 4–7 mm long. Inflorescence of 1 subsessile and 1 (–2) pedunculate heads; heads cup-shaped, c. 2–4-flowered, deep castaneous-brown. Flowers 5–6 mm long, 1.0–1.5 mm wide; pedicels 1–3 mm long. Tepals lanceolate, ±acute; inner tepals slightly shorter than outer, 4.5–6.0 mm long, 0.9–1.2 mm wide; outer tepals 5–6 mm long, 1.0–1.6 mm wide, castaneous-brown. Stamens 6, ±not exserted, 3.0–5.0 mm long; anthers linear-elliptic, yellow, 1.4–2.2 mm long, shorter than 1.9–2.8 mm filaments; style 1.8–2 mm long; stigmas 2–2.5 mm long. Capsule [immature] triseptate, ovoid-trigonous, 3–4 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, acute, dark castaneous. Seeds unknown.
