Plants usually 12–30 cm tall; stolons short, ascending. Basal leaves to 18 cm long, usually (1.3–) 2–3 mm wide; cauline leaves 1–3, usually 3–13 cm long. Lower bract usually 1.5–6.0 cm long, shorter than or exceeding inflorescence. Inflorescence composed of one subsessile and 2–12 pedunculate few-flowered clusters: clusters usually 2–6 (–9)-flowered, hemispherical, of ±equal size and c. 5 × 5 mm; peduncles ±straight or flexuose, ±smooth, usually to 3 cm long, with secondary branches frequent. Tepals equal, glabrous, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, usually 2.3–3.2 mm long, 0.6–0.8 mm wide; midrib distinct, narrow, dark brown to pale brown; margins broad, membranous to scarious. Anthers 0.5–1.0 (–1.2) mm long; filaments 0.4–0.7 mm long and longer than anthers after their dehiscence; style 0.3–0.4 (–0.6) mm long, stigmas 1.5–1.9 (2.2) mm long. Capsule obovoid, ±obtuse with mucro 0.1–0.2 mm long, pale brown, shorter than perianth; capsule segments 1.8–2.3 × 1.0–1.4 mm.
