SUMMARY
Perennials c. 10–120 cm tall. Leaves with margins ciliate, swollen. Inflorescence variable, composed of few or many subglobose to turbinate heads or most flowers solitary. Bracteoles c. 2.5 mm long, scarious or brownish at base, fimbriate. Tepals ±narrowly lanceolate, 2.8–4.5 mm long, stramineous to castaneous-brown, acuminate, subulate; apex darker. Stamens 6. Capsule broadly ovoid to oblong-ovoid, subobtuse to subacute, shorter than perianth. Seeds with appendage c. 0.1–0.2 mm long, fibrillate.
