Perennials, 1–3 cm tall, densely caespitose; rhizome abbreviated. Stem erect, terete, 0.2–0.3 mm thick. Cataphylls 1–2, long-aristate, shining yellowish-brown, striate. Basal leaves 1. Sub-basal leaves1–2, with upper recurved or twisted, filiform, canaliculate, bitubular, 0.8–2.5 cm long, 0.25–0.4 mm wide, grass-green; sheaths 2–5 mm long, brown. Leaves on sterile shoots 1–4 cm long, 0.25–0.35 mm wide; sheaths 2–5 mm long; leaf apex obtuse; auricles acute, c. 0.2 mm long, membranous. Lower bract erecto-patent, aristate 2.5–4.5 mm long, 0.4–0.8 mm wide, brown, slightly exceeding flower. Inflorescence reduced to a single very shortly pedicelled flower, or rarely flowers 2; sheath-like bract absent. Flowers widely open at anthesis, 3–6 mm long, 1.0–1.5 mm wide. Tepals ±equal, lanceolate, acute to acuminate, (1.8–) 2.5–4.0 (–4.6) mm long, 0.4–0.6 mm wide, castaneous-brown. Stamens 6, shorter than perianth, 1.0–1.7 mm long; anthers longer than filaments, linear-ellipsoid, cream-yellow, (0.4–) 1.0–1.5 mm long; filaments 0.3–0.8 mm long; style 1.0–1.7 mm long; stigmas 1.2–4.6 mm long. Capsule narrowly ellipsoid-trigonous, acuminate, 2.5–3.5 mm long including rostrum, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, dark brown, shining. Seed ellipsoid, apiculate, 0.5–0.6 mm long, 0.3–0.35 mm wide; appendages ±absent.
